Dougie Smith
After 9-years successfully leading the school as Headmaster, Dougie Smith has announced he will be leaving Park House English School. Dougie leaves us on July 6th 2017 to join Saracen Education as their Chief Education Officer. During this time his achievements included:
- Embed the Park House ethos whilst overseeing the growth of the secondary school from 800 students to 1050 students with additions at the upper end of the school. With the addition of extra primary classes the student headcount will further increase to 1,250 by September 2017.
- Maturing the school during his tenure to become a well-established and highly regarded school within the local community.
- Successfully led the school through BSO, BSME and QNSA accreditations achieving a 5-year term of accreditation from the QNSA – the highest possible.
We are extremely grateful for all that Dougie has achieved for and with Park House English School and we wish him every success for his future role at Saracen Education.
John has more than 10-years of school leadership experience across a diverse range of educational settings, having worked in the United Kingdom, Qatar and Singapore. He has a passion for school improvement and believes in establishing and maintaining a positive professional learning community with colleagues. Before joining the teaching profession, John worked in Investment Banking for a number of years.

At the same time, we welcome John Smith as the new Principal of Park House English School. John joins the school at an exciting time and will lead the school through its next phase of development. John joins us on August 14th 2017 to take over from Dougie Smith as the Principal of Park House English School, Doha, Qatar.

John has more than 10-years of school leadership experience across a diverse range of educational settings, having worked in the United Kingdom, Qatar and Singapore. Before joining the teaching profession, John worked in Investment Banking for a number of years.
John has a Masters in Education from the University of Birmingham and the U.K. National Professional Qualification in Headship. He is also an experienced school evaluator with CIS and has been invited to take a lead role in school evaluation visits.
Outside of school John enjoys spending time with his family, travelling to experience different cultures and cuisines and following Moseley and Wasps RFCs. John and his family are excited to be returning to Qatar and his two children are looking forward to joining the Park House English School community.
