On Thursday 8th
February 2018 Cambridge International School held the grand opening of its
refurbished building at Cherry Hinton Hall, hosting a drinks reception in the
newly built Okes Hall (named after the founders of the Hall, the Okes
family). Cherry Hinton Hall, Cambridge
is home to the CIS Nursery and Primary School and has been undergoing a major
refurbishment over the last seven months.
The evening provided the opportunity to thank
everyone involved in the refurbishment project and to allow key representatives
from the Cambridge community the opportunity to visit the building and take a
tour of the stunning new learning facilities.
We were delighted to welcome so many of the people who had been involved
in the planning, design and construction of the new facilities, alongside
representatives from community groups, the local council, Cambridge School
Heads, relocation agents and colleagues from International Schools Partnership. We were particularly honoured to be joined by
The Mayor of Cambridge, Cllr George Pippas, who formally opened the new
facilities. Student representatives from
Years 5 & 6, along with senior students from The Temple, conducted tours
for the guests and shared their delight with their new learning
environment. In his speech, ISP
Managing Director, Steve Brown commented “I am very proud that the new CIS
building has become part of the local community.”
The Mayor of Cambridge also remarked on how
excellent the new facilities were and, that having been on the planning
committee which approved the plans, he was delighted to have the opportunity to
view the finished building and be involved in the opening event.
Mrs Mills, Principal of CIS, commented, “The newly
refurbished Cherry Hinton Hall gives our students the opportunity to achieve
amazing learning in an inspiring environment.
We are all thrilled by our wonderful new building.”
A good deal of positive feedback has been received
from the evening’s guests and the refurbished building is certainly making a
great impression on everyone who visits.
